The fixed-asset audit takes weeks of walking the plant with a printout. Assets that were scrapped years ago are still on the books, assets that exist are not, and the finance team and the plant team have two different lists.

The solution

Each asset gets a printable on-metal UHF RFID label encoded with its asset ID. A handheld reader sweeps a bay from five metres and lists every asset present in minutes; the desktop reader prints and encodes new labels at induction. The register software reconciles found, missing and unexpected assets and exports to the ERP.

Do RFID labels work on metal?

Yes — on-metal UHF labels are designed for it; the pilot uses on-metal labels for machines and standard labels for other assets.

What read range can we expect?

Typically 3–6 metres with the handheld, depending on label type and orientation; a bay is swept without touching anything.

Does it integrate with our ERP's fixed-asset module?

The register exports CSV and has an API; most plants start with CSV reconciliation and integrate in a scale-up phase.
