VVM201 digital DC voltage current power and energy meter LCD panel

Product Description

The VVM201 is a digital DC voltage, current, power and energy meter for industrial and commercial monitoring. It measures DC voltage up to 100 V and current up to ±200 A using a WCS1500 Hall effect sensor, with watt-hour and ampere-hour measurement for energy and battery-capacity monitoring.

A 16 × 2 LCD provides local readings, while analog voltage/current outputs and a serial UART interface support integration with microcontrollers and data acquisition systems. Adjustable over-current detection provides an active-low digital output. Modbus RTU slave operation requires an external TTL-to-RS485 converter.

The meter uses a 48 × 96 mm DIN panel enclosure with 55 mm depth and a 9.0 mm conductor aperture. Auxiliary power is 7–12 V DC maximum. The specified 4000 V isolation applies to current measurement; voltage-input isolation is not specified.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does VVM201 measure?
DC voltage up to 100 V, current up to ±200 A, power, watt-hours and ampere-hours. Its WCS1500 Hall effect sensor measures current through a 9.0 mm aperture without a shunt resistor.
What supply and enclosure does it use?
Use a stable auxiliary 7–12 V DC supply, with 12 V maximum. The DIN panel enclosure is 48 × 96 mm with 55 mm depth, and includes a 16 × 2 LCD.
How do I connect it to Modbus RTU?
Use an external TTL-to-RS485 converter and connect EN to the converter DE/RE pins. Default slave ID is 1; IDs 1–247 are supported. Baud rates are 9600, 19200, 38400, 57600 and 115200. Voltage is in registers 40001–40002, current 40003–40004, Wh 40005–40006 and Ah 40007–40008, each as a 32-bit float.
Are energy and capacity totals retained after power-off?
Send S followed by Enter through the serial port to save Wh and Ah to device memory. Send R followed by Enter to reset the stored values to zero. The datasheet does not specify automatic saving.
How do over-current detection and calibration work?
Adjust RV1 in over-current setting mode. The O/C output goes LOW and LED L2 lights on over-current. Use zero calibration only with no current flowing. Very low current readings are less accurate. The 4000 V isolation specification applies to current sensing; voltage-input isolation is not specified.

Other Information

Applications: test and measurement, instrumentation and control, motor control, power and solar systems, battery chargers, state-of-charge estimation, electric vehicles, load detection and over-current fault detection.

Apply a stable auxiliary 7–12 V DC supply to +12v and GND; 12 V is the maximum. Observe VIN polarity and the current-direction arrow on the sensor. If the serial port is unused, the manufacturer instructs connecting Rx and NC together to avoid random display errors. Save Wh/Ah explicitly using S followed by Enter for retention after power-off. Modbus operation requires an external TTL-to-RS485 converter and replaces regular serial streaming. Follow the manufacturer instructions for mode switching and calibration. Current sensing is less accurate at very low currents. The 4000 V isolation specification applies to current measurement; voltage-input isolation, environmental ratings and accuracy tolerances are not specified.
