Electronics Components Manufacturing Scheme (ECMS)

Overview

ECMS was notified in April 2025 with an original outlay of ₹22,919 crore. The Union Budget 2026–27 announced an increase to ₹40,000 crore to deepen domestic electronics component manufacturing and value addition.

Why explore it

Manufacturers planning sensors, connected-device components, sub-assemblies or related materials can check whether their proposed product and investment fit an eligible ECMS segment. The scheme focuses on manufacturing capacity, not every electronics design or retail activity.

Key facts

The scheme has a six-year tenure with an optional one-year gestation period. It uses incentive structures tied to eligible categories and seeks to integrate Indian electronics into global value chains.

Best next step

Check the latest MeitY scheme guidelines, target segments, thresholds and application window before committing resources. The ₹40,000 crore amount is a programme outlay, not an individual grant.
